By Breaking Belize News Staff: An Asian grocer is out on bail after trying to bribe a police officer with $ 2.00 to buy a Coca-Cola in an attempt to avoid getting a traffic ticket.

Forty-six-year-old Zhong Zhu arrived in court today, facing a single charge of attempting to corrupt a police officer, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The allegation against him is that on September 17, he was stopped by police after failing to adhere to a traffic sign.

While speaking to the officers, Zhu allegedly offered the officer $2 to buy a coke with the money in exchange for not writing him a ticket. He was then taken to the Belama Police Station and charged.
