“Electrical flaw causes house fire on George Price Highway,” says Fire Department

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize National Fire Service (BNFS) says that an electrical flaw is responsible for a house fire on the George Price Highway earlier today.

The BNFS were called out to the scene this morning at Mile 21 on the highway where they saw a concrete building with zinc roofing measuring 15ft x 20 ft completely destroyed.

“The occupants of this were accessing direct current from BEL’s pole. Information received to us was that several popping sounds were heard coming from inside the building before the fire was observed,” the BNFS said.

The fire department also noted that no one was home at the time of the incident, and that information regarding the occupants of the building is still forthcoming.
