Fortis Belize: Vaca Spillway becomes active due to rains in Mountain Pine Ridge

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Fortis Belize informed today that due to rainfall in the Mountain Pine Ridge area over the last 24 hours, there is an increased inflow into the Vaca Reservoir.

This additional inflow has caused an increase in the reservoir level and as of 5 a.m. today, September 24th, 2022, the Vaca spillway has become active.

Fortis says that this flow remains minimal and will not present any immediate impact in San Ignacio and downstream communities.

Fortis Belize noted that it continues to monitor the water level at all its facilities and will continue to provide information to all regulatory bodies and the public in a timely manner.
