Police bust group of four with marijuana and cocaine; One takes the fall so the others can walk

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police arrested and charged four people in Belize City for drug possession, but only one of them will face the consequence of the offense.

On Friday, officers conducting operations in the Coney Drive area of the city searched a vehicle and found 47 grams of marijuana and 5.5 grams of cocaine. Present at the time of the discovery were 27-year-old Dominic Daryn Galvez, 27-year-old Kamesha Rowland, 37-year-old Rasemruh Asher Richardson, and 31-year-old, Anthony Nicholas.

In court, they were all charged with one count each of possession of controlled drugs with respect to the marijuana, and one count each of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply to another.

Galvez immediately pleaded guilty to the charges, telling the court, “They neva had anything to do with the stuff found in the car. Dah feh me. I told the officer from the beginning. I made a mistake.”

He was fined $205.00 for the marijuana which he was given until November 15, 2022, to pay or he will spend 2 months in jail for default, and another $2,005.00 for the cocaine. Galvez has until December 31, 2022, to pay that fine or he will face a year in jail for default.

Police saw the vehicle parked in front of Buttonwood Bay Primary School around 1:45 a.m. on Friday, and conducted a search where they found the drugs in the trunk.
