Replay’s Jeff Coats reformed his life after alleged gang ties and prison time in America

Posted: Sunday, September 25, 2022. 8:27 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Jeffrey Allen Coats, shot dead earlier this morning in front of his nightclub Replay on Wyatt Street, came by his own admission from a rough background.

And there is a suggestion that an incident he spoke openly about that occurred on September 17, a week before his demise, may have contributed to it.

Coats was tried as a teen at the age of 14 for robbery and attempted murder of a Tacoma, Washington resident who was duct-taped and placed in the trunk of his BMW before it was stolen and sentenced to twenty years’ imprisonment, according to The Rethinking Punishment Radio Project. He had been in foster care for much of his life.

But according to the program, he became a successful real estate agent and regular speaker, telling his story as motivation.

Coats then subsequently moved to Belize where he established the nightclub, which quickly became popular.

On September 17, Coats personally escorted a man out of the nightclub who was “under blood,” later writing about it on social media. He apologized to patrons and chided those allegedly responsible, saying they had “disrespected” him, club staff, and themselves and their families by their actions.

Now he is dead, apparently shot from a motorcycle riding against the flow of traffic. He died in hospital around 3:23 this morning. Police investigations continue.
