By Breaking Belize News Staff: An Italian national who was caught staying in Belize past the time allotted on his permit is being deported back to his home country.
Twenty-eight-year-old Luca Fenu appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today where he was charged with a single count of failure to comply with the conditions of a visitors permit.
He wasted no time and pleaded guilty to the charge, requesting that he be sent to another country instead of deported back to Italy.
He was fined $1,000 which he had to pay forthwith. The Immigration Department was also granted a removal order against him that was applied for, so arrangements are being made for his deportation.
Fenu was caught in the Belama area of Belize City on September 25, having been in the country since August 14. He had only been granted 30 days to stay in the country and had failed to receive an extension by September 15.
