By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Twenty migrants are missing after a boat capsized off Florida’s coast during Hurricane Ian, CBS News reports.
Authorities also say that 3 people were rescued.
“U.S. Border Patrol agents… responded to a migrant landing in Stock Island, Florida. Cuban migrants swam to shore after their vessel sank due to inclement weather,” Miami Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar said on Twitter.
Around 3:30 pm (Florida time), the 3 persons rescued were taken to the hospital for exhaustion and dehydration.
A search continues for the 20 people who are still missing.
On Tuesday, officials in Florida warned against attempting the dangerous journey at sea.
