By Benjamin Flowers: Following a road traffic accident in Sandhill Village that killed three men on Tuesday, the Belize Police Department has arrested and charged bus driver, 21-year-old Joel Omar Disus.
Disus, a resident of Guinea Grass Village, was charged with one count of driving motor vehicle without due care and attention; one count of failing to keep to the extreme right hand of the road; three counts of manslaughter by negligence; and three counts of causing death by careless conduct to James Glenford Dawson, Eustace Dawson Jr. and Brandon Gillett.
The accident happened shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 27th September. Disus was reportedly headed to Corozal driving a Silva’s passenger bus, while the three deceased men were in a pickup truck, when the two vehicles collided head-on.
James Dawson and Brandon Gillett died on impact, while Eustace Dawson Jr. died during emergency surgery.
