Hurricane Ian caused over $100 billion in damages

Posted: Saturday, October 1, 2022. 1:55 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Officials have confirmed that 30 people died due to Category 4 Hurricane Ian that ravaged Florida on Wednesday.

Hurricane Ian terrorized millions of people in Florida and South Carolina.

Authorities are now assessing the damage.

Some say it could take years to rebuild and recover from the damages caused by Hurricane Ian.

Authorities note that an elderly couple died after their oxygen machines shut off when they lost power.

Distraught residents tried to salvage what possessions they could from their flooded homes.

Disaster modeling firm Karen Clark and Co. said that Hurricane Ian caused over $100 billion in damages including $63 billion in privately insured losses.

That makes Hurricane Ian the fourth costliest hurricane in U.S. history.
