By Breaking Belize News Staff: Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow extended thanks to all the candidates that have submitted applications to become standard bearers for the United Democratic Party (UDP) while internal tensions continue over the rejection of incumbent Patrick Faber’s application for the Collet constituency.
“I look forward to the Democratic process unfolding by which our Party Members and supporters will decide who they feel will best represent the interest of their Constituency,” Barrow said via Facebook.
“I am excited to have such a diverse, quality cadre of applicants from grassroots, to PhDs, medical doctors, business owners, former and current Mayors, CEOs, Educators, long-time delegates, campaigners, [and] former and current Area Representatives who have all stepped up to serve the people of Belize on behalf of the great United Democratic Party!” Barrow continued.
He described it as a fitting way to end the party’s 49th birthday celebration with this demonstration of such a strong commitment to the Party by young as well as established aspirants.
Meanwhile, however, party vice-chairman Alberto August has taken his frustration with the party public via a series of Facebook posts and comments in which he claims to have been removed from internal party communications. He has also mounted criticism about the “undermining” of Faber and what he calls abuse.
