Benque Viejo man charged for chopping death of elderly woman

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have arrested the man believed to be responsible for the chopping death of Porfiria Romona Moralez which occurred yesterday.

Benque Viejo resident, 68-year-old Miguel Angel Gomez, was arrested and charged today with the crime of murder.

Moralez’s body was found just before noon yesterday. Initial investigation revealed that Morales was walking towards Church Street when she was attacked and chopped once to her neck by a known male person.

She was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police detained Gomez shortly after.
