Miguel Ayala, charged with chopping a man to the head with a machete, out on bail

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man charged with chopping another man to the head with a machete during an altercation is out on bail.

Twenty-one-year-old Miguel Ayala appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, charged with one count of use of deadly means of harm with a machete and one count of wounding upon 26-year-old Derrick Jones.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of $3,000 plus one surety of the same, which he was able to meet.

Ayala must sign in at the Raccoon Street Police Station twice a week and cannot be charged with any other offense while out on bail or it will be revoked and he will be remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

The altercation in question took place on Friday, September 30 on Victoria Street, Belize City.
