By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man caught sneaking into his cousin’s yard after 2:00 a.m. allegedly asked police officers who caught him not to make any noise when he was found.
Police say that at 2:25 a.m. they were on the corner of Central American Boulevard and Mahogany Street, when they saw a man, later identified as Edwardo Rene Andrade, scaling a fence.
When officers approached Andrade, he reportedly told them “My cousin lives here. Shhhh, nuh mek no noise.”
The officers searched him and found in his possession a knife with an 8-inch blade, which he told officers he kept on him for his own protection. He was charged with possession of an article with a blade and arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he wasted no time in pleading guilty to the offense.
Andrade had nothing to say for himself in mitigation, but since it was his first offense, he was fined $400, plus $5 cost of court. He has until November 4 to pay his fine or he will face four months in prison.
