By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) held a Covered Structures Management workshop at Yo Creek Agriculture Station in Orange Walk on Wednesday.
“The workshop is part of the Caricom Development Fund project, where covered structures are gifted to small producers, especially rural women and youth, with training to manage crops grown under the structures,” said MAFSE in a social media post.
The workshop was conducted by Alberto Gutierrez, Extension Officer attached to the Orange Walk Agric Department specializing in horticulture and crops.
Fifteen small producers attended the workshop.
MAFSE said similar training workshops will be held in the other districts.
The Ministry has been engaged in promoting agriculture in covered structures (greenhouses) countrywide and has been conducting training for small farmers over the last couple of years.
