By Benjamin Flowers: Floralia, Belize’s newest bus company is asking commuters who qualify for their discount program to travel with identification.
The company made the appeal on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, noting that for the past 10 months it has offered discounts on bus fares to police officers, military personnel, seniors (those aged 65 years and over), and children under 12 years old.
“We ask for your patience and cooperation as we make minor modifications to ensure the program is sustainable for those passengers that qualify. We humbly request that you carry your IDs and show them upon request so that we can apply the applicable discount,” Floralia said.
The company has been the center of controversy in recent weeks as the Belize Bus Association has complained that its presence is causing a loss of revenue to established stakeholders within the transport sector; however, the company maintains that it is committed to ensuring the development of the sector by offering travelers the option to ride safer, cleaner, and in modern busses.
