International News: 34 people including 22 children murdered in a mass shooting in Thailand

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Thirty-four people lost their lives in a mass shooting in Thailand today, CNN reports.

Twenty-two of the victims are children. Reports indicate that a lone gunman entered a child care center in northeastern Thailand and opened fire.

Authorities in Thailand say that the suspect is a former policeman involved in an ongoing court case for allegedly selling drugs.

Police later confirmed that the gunman had killed his wife and stepson before committing suicide.

Investigation so far reveals that the suspect went to look for his son but the child was not there and he began shooting and stabbing those at the child care center.

Thailand’s Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha has extended condolences to the families of the victims.

“About the horrifying incident, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the families of the dead and injured,” he stated
