Verdes’ Paraguayan Luis Ibarra chasing Altitude’s Colombian Andrés Orozco as PLB top goalscorer

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes’ Paraguayan Luis Ibarra is hot on the heels of Altitude’s Colombian Andrés Orozco as the Premier League of Belize’s (PLB) top goalscorer. Three Belizeans are hot on their tails as well.

Orozco leads all scorers with seven goals so far. With his goal last weekend, Ibarra now has six. Both meet head on Sunday at the Norman Broaster Stadium in a high stakes match since only two points separate leaders Altitude from the Green Machine who have faltered lately. With Verdes hoping to regain the top spot and Altitude meaning to increase their lead in the Opening Season, both Orozco and Ibarra are also expected to find the opposing net.

But they are not alone at the top, three Belizeans, namely Wagiya’s Cion Augustine, Progresso’s Zamir Bonilla, and Port Layola’s Sean Young, are playing at a high level as well, having scored five each.
