Altitude lead Premier League of Belize, Verdes in close pursuit 

Should Altitude prevail when both meet on Sunday they will have amplified their lead by three if the result is a draw and by five if they should win. And even if Verdes win and regain the lead by one point over Altitude, the Independence club still have the back match against the San Pedro Pirates that could catapult them over the Green Machine.

And talking about the San Pedro Pirates, they are at 17 points. A win over the Bandits coupled with a loss by Verdes would propel them into second place.

But nobody is comfortable in the PLB as Wagiya who are trailing San Pedro with 14 points. Should they beat Port Layola, and the Bandits, who’ve been improving, and pull a surprise at Ambergris Caye, Wagiya could very well draw even with the islanders.

Wagiya cannot let up either, as Progresso with 12 and Benque Viejo United with 11 are huffing and puffing and have proven they can bring anybody’s house down.

Port Layola is next with 10. They have shown signs of good football but likewise have given up games that one would consider were theirs for the taking. They can certainly improve their lot with a good performance in Dangriga.

The Bandits, at the bottom of the standings, are in dire need of a second win and are gunning to knock out the Pirates when they meet at San Pedro this weekend.
