By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Meteorological Service of Belize is closely monitoring Hurricane Julia.
As of this evening, Hurricane Julia was located about 20 miles west-southwest of San Andres Island, Colombia.
Julia was moving to the west at 17 mph with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph.
This system is expected to produce heavy rainfall and possible flooding over Belize from tomorrow into Monday.
A flood warning is in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas of the country.
A small craft caution is also in effect for gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms.
