International News: Another Mexican lawmaker killed

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Wednesday afternoon, armed gunmen on a motorcycle shot and killed Gabriela Marin, a public official in Mexico’s state of Morelos, Latin Post reports.

Marin was a local deputy in the Congress of Morelos.

State officials have since confirmed Marin’s death.

Marin was reportedly in the parking lot of a pharmacy in the Estrada Cajigal neighborhood when 2 gunmen on a motorcycle arrived at the scene and repeatedly shot her.

One of Marin’s escorts was also wounded in the attack.

Authorities responded to the scene and found Marin’s body beside her vehicle.

They also found several 9mm caliber shell casings at the scene.

Mexican officials have condemned Marin’s murder and said that a special operation was launched to find the culprits.

Marin was killed on the same day as a Mayor and 19 others in Guerrero were killed by armed members of the Los Tequileros gang.
