By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the National Community Policing Unit and Holy Redeemer Credit Union (HRCU) teamed up to open savings accounts for 30 children in the Belize District.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Howell Gillett said that the children received training in financial literacy prior to the opening of the accounts.
“This is one of many initiatives to offer hope and a brighter future to our young people. We plan to take this and other initiatives to other parts of the country,” Gillett said.
HRCU is providing the training and a part of the money to open the accounts.
Other sponsors of the initiative include Mirab and Premier Charters and Tours.
