City Emergency Management Organization partially activates Emergency Operations Center

By Aaron Humes: In response to damage caused by Tropical Storm Julia, the City Emergency Management Organization (CEMO) has announced the partial opening of its Emergency Operations Center.

One official hurricane shelter, St Luke Methodist School on Mahogany Street, is currently open and City residents are advised to keep up with information from the National Meteorological Service and National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) as to advice on additional shelter openings.

Committees active include search and rescue, transport and evacuation, relief and supplies, housing and shelter, logistics, human resources, communications and the office of the NEMO Belize City Coordinator.

Rains and the potential for thunderstorms and flooding continue through Monday. Continue to listen to all updates and contact NEMO toll free at 936 with any questions or concerns.
