Flooding reported in Izabal, Guatemala as Tropical Storm Julia approaches

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Authorities in El Salvador and Guatemala have issued tropical storm warnings as Tropical Storm Julia approaches Central America with heavy rainfall.

Guatemalan authorities have reported flooding in parts of Izabal due to the heavy rains, Prensa Libre reports.

Rescue officials are out monitoring and conducting damage assessments.

Many roads have become impassable due to the flooding and debris.

Noticias Rudy Mancilla said that the road to Puerto Barrios is now impassable due to flooding.

More heavy rainfall is expected as Tropical Storm Julia moves off the Pacific coast of Nicaragua  and then move close to and parallel to the Pacific coasts of Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala tonight and on Monday, the National Hurricane Center said.
