PLB postpones Wagiya-Port Layola match in Dangriga

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) match between Wagiya and Port Layola set to be played on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga has been called off, said the PLB on Sunday morning.

“The PLB executive and both teams will decide when and where the back match will be played,” said the PLB.

“It rained almost all night and it is still raining off and on and doesn’t look like it is about to stop.”

The PLB added that based on information received from the referee assessor Victor Williams and confirmation with team manager Nelson Moss, the Wagiya vs Port Layola has been postponed due to inclement weather

On Saturday, the PLB postponed the Benque Viejo United vs Progresso match to have been played in Benque Viejo del Carmen on Saturday because a section of the pitch at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium was under water. The San Pedro Pirates vs Belmopan Bandits game scheduled for Saturday night in San Pedro was postponed considering the safety of the Bandits who would have had to travel to Ambergris Caye by sea.

The one game that remains as scheduled is the Verdes-Altitude set for 4:00 pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, though the PLB said it was expecting a report shortly.

Several activities have been postponed this weekend, including the FFB’s Travel Beach Soccer Cup in Hopkins and the Under 15 Belize Girls National Team training in Belmopan, because of the rains caused by Hurricane Julia.
