By Benjamin Flowers: The tropical disturbance that emerged in the Caribbean Sea near Belize this morning is not likely to become a tropical depression, the United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports.
Forecasted estimate that the disturbance has only a 10 percent chance of development within the next 48 hours and into the rest of the week. Any development of this system will occur once it reached the Gulf of Mexico.
However, the disturbance is expected to bring heavy rains to Belize, Mexico, and Guatemala over the next few days.
Belizeans are urged to be vigilant and monitor official notices as various parts of the country are already experiencing flooding due to torrential rains brought on by Julia, which made landfall in Nicaragua yesterday as a Category 1 Hurricane.
Flood warnings are already in place for residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
