Football Federation of Belize launches 2022 National U13 Girls Elite Championship on Saturday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) is tentatively launching the 2022 National U13 Girls Elite Championship on Saturday, October 15, said a press release by the national football body.

The FFB said the tournament will run for seven weeks and should end by November 26, 2022. Games are scheduled to be played on Saturdays at 2:00 pm at 12 different stadiums in the country. The final and third place games will be played at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

“The National U13 Girls Elite Championship is aimed towards the development of players which will lead to the selection of a pool of 40 girls who will form a part of FFB’s National Team Development Program,” said the FFB release.

The ten participating teams have been divided in two groups which will play round robins. The top two teams in each group qualify to the home and away semifinals. To determine the national champions and third-place winners, the qualifying teams will play a knockout game.

Group A is made up of Stann Creek, Toledo, Cayo, Benque Viejo del Carmen, and Mid-South.

Group B consists of Corozal, Orange Walk, Belize, San Pedro, and Belmopan.
