Man, 38, charged with possession of crack pipe and article with a blade; remanded to prison

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 38-year-old Belize City resident is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being unable to post bail for two criminal charges.

Daniel Powers appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, charged with one count of possession of an article with a blade and possession of a pipe for the purpose of smoking drugs.

Police say that they conducted a search on Powers on Sunday, October 9 while on cemetery road, where they found the pipe on him along with a knife with an 11-inch blade.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of $600 plus one surety of the same; however, he was unable to post bail.

He was remanded until he is able to do so.
