Student Jorge Vargas of Centro Escolar Mexico identified as fatality in traffic accident

By Aaron Humes: Police have confirmed that there was a fatal traffic accident on Tuesday evening in Ranchito Village, Corozal District, involving a taxi van and an ambulance. Several passengers received various injuries and were rushed to the Corozal Community Hospital.

The single fatality so far has been identified as Jorge Vargas, a student of Centro Escolar Mexico Junior College in San Roman, Corozal.

The school posted on its social media last night, “Centro Escolar Mexico Junior College is mourning the untimely death of our student, Jorge Vargas, our most sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

It added, “We ask for prayers for our others [sic] students Aaliyah Marrokin, Armando Patt and Anthony Tzib that were also involved in the accident. Prayers also for Jaheem Williams a student from BAJC [Belize Adventist Junior College] and to both drivers of the taxi and the ambulance. [Our] prayers to all involved and their families!”

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
