Anti-drug cops come under fire in Teakettle

By Aaron Humes: A pair of police officers attached to the Anti-Narcotics Unit came under fire this morning in the village of Teakettle, Cayo District.

According to Corporal of Police Meredith Budna, he was waiting for fellow officer Detective Constable Marcos Kingston under the bus shed in the village so that they could catch a bus.

Corporal Budna heard a gunshot coming from the direction of a nearby concrete garbage bin and went to investigate. He ran behind the concrete fence separating Benge’s Costless Store from the community center and heard gunfire which was DC Kingston apparently firing back in the direction of the assailant.

The shooter evaded the officers by running behind the community center and escaping down the George Price Highway in a pick-up truck that was apparently waiting for him.

Police investigations continue.
