By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 34-year-old Cayo resident has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after allegedly assaulting his wife and nine-year-old son during a domestic dispute.
Bartholomeu Lucas appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, charged with two counts of common assault and one count of damage to property. He showed up to court, unrepresented in crutches, explaining that he had broken his left foot and was unable to work.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of $2,000 plus one surety of the same which he was unable to meet. He will remain on remand until he is able to do so.
Allegations against him are that on October 7, he assaulted his common law wife, and his son, and damaged $1,786 worth of electronic equipment including a computer monitor, modem, and keyboard.
