By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Five archaeological reserves are closed today, said the Institute of Archaeology (NICH).
“The Nohoch Che’en, ATM, Barton Creek, Caracol, and Xunantunich Reserves are all closed due to flooded river conditions at those locations.”
The IA/NICH said that all other archaeological reserves are open for visitation.
The IA/NICH said that it will continue monitoring the river conditions and will provide updates.
“Please continue to exercise caution at all go times, be aware of weather conditions and the possibility of flash flood,” said IA/NICH.
