Peeping Tom caught in the act claims he was drunk and doesn’t remember; still pleads guilty in court

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City resident caught looking into a woman’s apartment, claimed this week that he was heavily intoxicated and does not remember the incident.

Twenty-year-old Hermelindo Ack, originally of Punta Gorda, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, charged with a single count of trespassing. Ack wasted no time in pleading guilty and explaining to the court that he was so drunk at the time he could not recall doing what he was accused of.

In court, the Magistrate took into consideration that Ack was gainfully employed, had not wasted the court’s time by pleading guilty immediately, showed remorse, and had no previous offenses of any kind. The Magistrate then dismissed the charges against him and ruled that he needed to seek counseling from the National Drug Abuse Control Council (NDACC) every week for six weeks. The NDACC will then send a report to the Court after his six weeks’ worth of sessions conclude.

Allegations against him are that he entered into his neighbor’s yard and went up to peep through the window of a 22-year-old woman, who called the police, twice, because she was fearful for her life. The victim told police that she took her cell phone and began recording the intruder, who then tried to jump off of the building’s roof.

She later showed the footage to police who were able to positively identify Ack.
