San Pedro Pirates run over Belmopan Bandits 4-1

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Far gone are the days when the Belmopan Bandits used to dominate Belizean football. And they may return some time, but for now the Bandits are struggling.

On Wednesday night the San Pedro Pirates ran over the Bandits pummeling them 4-1 at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro.

Horace Avila hit twice, in the 14^th and 59^th minutes, before Mexican Eric Izquierdo Román made it 3-0 in the 63^rd.

The Bandits responded in 85^th on a goal by Jaren Lambey but San Pedro muffled them and put them out of commission when Louis Valdez scored their fourth goal in the 90^th minute.

The win paired the Pirates alongside Verdes at 20 points and are now in third place, Verdes just edging them on goal difference.

To their advantage, San Pedro have one game less than Verdes, the backmatch they’ll play against Altitude next Wednesday night in Independence. But before that, San Pedro can battle it out with Verdes when they meet on Saturday night at Ambergris Stadium.
