By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Institute of Archeology notified the public today that the Nohoch Chen, Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM), and Barton Creek caves remain closed due to flooding.

The Caracol and Xunantunich reserves are also closed due to elevated river conditions.

All other archaeological reserves are open for visitation.

The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) and the Institute of Archeology say that they will continue to monitor river conditions and provide necessary updates.

The public is advised to exercise caution at all go times and be aware of weather conditions and the possibility of flash floods.
