BWS: San Ignacio and Santa Elena to experience daily water interruption due to floods

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Belize Water Services (BWS) informed customers in San Ignacio and Santa Elena, that they will experience water interruption daily due to the recent flood.

BWS says that the flooding caused a main pump at the San Ignacio Water Intake to be destroyed and has caused water storage to be low.

The water interruption will be from 11:30pm to 4:45am daily, starting Friday, October 14, 2022, until further notice.

“This will allow BWS to maintain storage level so that customers will have water during peak hours. BWS crews are monitoring the level of the river, and as soon as the river recedes, we will be able to repair or replace the damaged equipment,” BWS noted.

BWS expressed gratitude to its employees for remaining committed to restoring water to customers.
