Posted: Saturday, October 15, 2022. 9:52 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Flooding was reported in many communities across the Cayo District this past week.

Over 100 residents were evacuated and had been staying in shelters as the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) continues to assess the situation.

Residents who were affected in Benque Viejo del Carmen received much-needed assistance from Cayo West Area Representative, Jorge ‘Milin’ Espat and the Taiwan Embassy in Belize.

“Several of our people were affected by the weather last week and we give thanks to His Excellency, David Kuan- Chou Chien Ambassador of Taiwan for providing help to some of these families. They are very appreciative of this assistance given to them,” Espat stated.
