By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Six clubs are competing in the FFB’s Travel Beach Soccer Cup which kicks off today Saturday, October 15, in Hopkins in the Stann Creek District, said the Football Federation of Belize (FFB).
The national championship launched by the FFB in collaboration with the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) will be played in Hopkins, Cayo, Seine Bight, and Placencia.
“The Travel Beach Soccer Cup is [the] FFB’s premier event for Beach Soccer clubs and showcases the best talents from across the country of Belize,” said the FFB.
Today’s games feature the opener between the Seine Bight Christ Warriors against the Cayo Selection at 10:00 am, Griga United against the Belize District Football Association City Rookies at 12:00 pm, and Hopkins Ibayani against Corozal FC at 2:00 pm.
After a single round robin, the top four teams will qualify to the semifinals.
The championship is to last seven weeks and will end on Saturday, November 26.
The FFB’s said the National Beach football championship will serve to recruit players for its 2023 National Beach Soccer Team.
