Xunantunich closed, Nohoch Che’en, ATM, and Caracol Archaeological Reserves open

“The Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve remains closed for visitation,” said the Institute of Archaeology at the National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH), which had said earlier that Nohoch Che’en, ATM, and Caracol Archaeological Reserves are now open.

IA/NICH also said earlier on Saturday that the Barton Creek Archaeological Reserve remains closed.

IA/NICH said all other archaeological reserves are open.

The IA/NICH said it will continue monitoring river conditions and provide necessary updates. At the same time, the archaeology organization advised visitors to the archaeological site to always exercise caution and to be aware of weather conditions and the possibility of flash floods.
