By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Altitude managed to squeak past Wagiya in the Battle of the South with a 2-1 win at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence on Saturday night. The win puts Altitude at 25 points, and coupled with the San Pedro Pirates-Verdes 2-2 draw, augment their Premier League of Belize (PLB) lead to four points.
Dellon Torres ignited the Altitude fans in the 36th minutes, but Clayton Fitzgibbon quieted them in the 42nd leveling the game at 1-1.
But Altitude were not to be outdone at home and the PLB’s stopscorer, Colombian Andrés Orozco found the net in the 62nd minute to clinch the 2-1 win.
While Altitude stay at the top, Wagiya remain in the fourth place with 14 points.
