By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “The Barton Creek and Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve remains closed,” said the Institute of Archaeology at the National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH) on Sunday.
“All other archaeological reserves are open for visitation.”
The IA/NICH said it will continue monitoring river conditions and provide necessary updates. At the same time, the archaeology organization advised visitors to the archaeological site to always exercise caution and to be aware of weather conditions and the possibility of flash floods.
