27 goals scored in 5 opening matches of FFB’s National U13 Girls Elite Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Twenty-seven goals were scored in the five opening matches of the 2022 National U13 Girls Elite Championship organized by the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) on Saturday last. That’s an average of 5.4 per game.
Stann Creek beat Belmopan 2-1 at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga.  Jolene Aranda scored both goals for Stann Creek while Emely Rodriguez got the lone tally for Belmopan.
The Midsouth rolled over Toledo 5-0 at the Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda. After Amara Coe scored the opener, Rian Acal and Haylee Villanueva converted a brace each for the Midsouth.
Corozal downed Orange Walk 2-1 at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on two goals by Yancy Chan. Ziany Santos netted for the home side.
Cayo blasted Benque Viejo del Carmen at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen 11-0. Aneeke Mesa hit the net five times. She was assisted by Jahxann Waight with a brace and by Eva Chuc, Jemma August, Marley Garcia, and Tiana Labriel with one each.
In the fifth opening match, Belize edged San Pedro 3-2 at the MCC Grounds in Belize City. Oceanna Castillo, Maleah Bladen, and Amina Burgess scored for Belize. Tamales McCauley and Teresita Diaz converted for the islanders.
The 2022 National U13 Girls Elite Championship continues on Saturday.
