By Breaking Belize News Staff: A man has been charged for burning his common law wife’s vehicle and a portion of her home after she kicked him out of her house.

Terry Andrewin appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s court charged with a single count of arson.

No plea was taken from him and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 29.

Allegations against him is that he burned his common law wife’s Ford Expedition valued at $18,000 as well as 2 black LG Smart TV valued $3,295, and 4 double windows valued at $440, all to a total of $22,235.

The offense was committed on October 7, but Andrewin had been recovering at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for burns sustained to his neck, both hands, and both feet.

The complainant told police that she had put him out of her home and he had threatened to commit suicide if she did not take him back. He allegedly made the first suicide attempt in late September, which she foiled, before leaving for the US. She told police that when she came back to Belize, she did not see him until October 7, when she claims he jumped into her yard with a handful of pills and again he allegedly threatened to take his own life by drinking them all at once if she did not take him back.

The complainant knocked the pills out of his hand and went back inside, ignoring several calls and messages from him including one where he threatened to burn her vehicle. She later received a call from her neighbor that the vehicle was on fire, the flames of which also caused damage to her home.
