By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Atlantic Ocean is free of any weather disturbance and will be if the forecast by the United States National Hurricane Center (US-NHC) turns out right.

“No new tropical cyclones are expected during the next five days,” said the US-NHC in its 6:00 am report on Monday.

Lately the Atlantic has been very active with the last two systems being Hurricane Julia and Tropical Storm Karl. Julia, which hit Central America last week, caused torrential rains which resulted in flash floods and mudslides in several countries. Over 25 people died in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. Thousands had to be evacuated.

Here in Belize, Julia caused floods in Belize and forced a number of people to seek public shelters.
