Shooting in Burrel Boom leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A shooting in Burrel Boom Village last night left 1 person dead and three injured.

According to authorities, last night around 11:10 pm, they received information about a shooting in Burrel Boom Village, Belize District, and that three persons were escorted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

When they visited the KHMH, they found Lee Busano, 35, Tanisha Banner, 33, and Chesterfield Baptist, 18 with gunshot wounds.

Additional information disclosed that another person with gunshot wounds had arrived at the hospital in a red SUV and shortly thereafter passed away.

Initial investigation revealed that Busano, Banner, and Baptist left from a dance held at Burrell Boom in a black Chevy Equinox heading towards Double Head Cabbage Village, and about a half mile from the village, the red SUV drove beside them and fired several shots towards their direction. Busano then returned fire with his licensed 9mm firearm. The red vehicle then sped off towards Burrell Boom Village.

According to police, several 9mm expended shells were retrieved from the scene and the black Chevy Equinox was seen with several bullet holes.

The person that passed away at the KHMH is yet to be identified while Busano, Banner, and Baptist are in a critical condition in the hospital.

Police investigation continues.
