By Benjamin Flowers: The dynamic between the People’s United Party (PUP) and the United Democratic Party (UDP) is primarily based on harsh criticism that frequently segues into the hurling of insults and personal attacks. But in a rare display this week, UDP area representative for the Albert Division Tracy Taegar Panton, has publicly congratulated the former PUP Prime Minister, Said Musa, for receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Belize.
Panton took to social media, sharing a post from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology, regarding Musa receiving the doctorate, and sharing her approval.
“Well deserved, PM Musa. Congratulations on being conferred with the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Law from the University of Belize,” Panton wrote.
Musa received the degree at UB’s first in-person post-COVID graduation ceremony, held at the Belize City Center on Saturday, October 15. He was one of two recipients of an honorary degree; the other was Gerald Rhaburn, widely known by his stage name Lord Rhaburn, who received a Doctorate of Arts.
