Belize City man remanded to prison over weekend chopping in Burrell Boom

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City resident, 33-year-old Forentino Ruiz, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being charged in connection with a chopping incident in Burrell Boom Village last weekend.

Ruiz appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm to cause maim, and taking a conveyance.

No plea was taken as the offenses were indictable and he was remanded until December 20.

Allegations against him are that on Saturday, October 15, 2022, he attempted to murder Roberto Arana with a machete and then took Arana’s pickup truck.
