Farmers and students participate in silage making and molasses urea block preparation workshop

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Sixty persons including farmers and students are participating in a session this morning on Silage Making and Molasses Urea Block Preparation.

Making silage is an important way for farmers to feed cows and sheep during times when pasture isn’t good, such as the dry season.

Molasses Urea blocks also provide fermentable nitrogen and are a good source of minerals that have been used for many years by farmers.

The training is being organized by the Livestock Section in Central Farm and facilitated by livestock officers Andrew Mejia and Frank Pardon.

The training seeks to capacitate farmers and students to have adequate practical experience in handling the production of silage and the use of alternative feed resources.
