International News: U.S. committed to continue providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: There have been global reactions on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its disregard for International Law.

During a virtual roundtable today, U.S. Ambassador to Guatemala, William Popp said that the cost of Russia’s unprovoked aggression in Ukraine affects the world and poses a global challenge with the costs of grains increased.

In addition, Popp said that drone strikes by Russian armed forces have killed thousands of civilians.

Popp stated that the United States’ position remains clear and the U.S. will continue to support Ukraine with humanitarian and economic aid.

Former Ukrainian parliamentarian, Hanna Hopko noted that Russian armed forces continue their acts of state terrorism and are suppressing religious and community leaders as well as journalists and activists.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) verified a total of 6,306 civilian deaths during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as of October 16, 2022. Of them, 397 were children.
