Meet Breast Cancer Survivor Dolores Damian

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Every October, people around the world show their support for everyone affected by breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month provides an opportunity for the annual campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer and fund research into its causes, treatment, and cure.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is highlighting Breast Cancer survivor, Dolores Damian.

Dolores is a community health worker and community advocate of Douglas, Orange Walk district.

“We admire her strength and courage as she shared her emotional story with our health team today. Thank you Dolores and thank you to Badra Coleman, representative of the Cancer Support group for accompanying us,” the Ministry said.

Commencing October 18, the Ministry will commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness month with a series of activities.

Statistics show that in Belize, at the end of 2020, 312 persons were diagnosed with breast cancer.
