Police officer charged with wounding his girlfriend

By Breaking Belize News Staff: An officer of the Belize Police Department is out on bail following a charge of wounding in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.

Twenty-four-year-old Corey Zuniga appeared unrepresented in court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge. There was no objection to bail and it was granted to him in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same.

While out on bail, Zuniga is to refrain from having any contact with the complainant and will have his bail revoked if he is criminally charged for any other offense.

The allegation against him is that on Monday, October 17, he wounded his girlfriend.

Zuniga is due back in court on December 20.
